Baby Woolley is here and we are all so excited! I may be the most excited about it. I love being pregnant, it's such a fun experience but the last few weeks of this pregnancy were hard. I thought the baby was going to fall out at any second. I got really uncomfortable and was ready to have my baby in my arms. I guess it's a good thing I was uncomfortable because it helped me mentally get ready to give birth to our little boy. So, here is his story.
Sunday morning I woke up having contractions. I had strong Braxton Hicks contractions all through my pregnancy but these contractions were the real thing, painful but I could still sleep through them if I tried. We got up, made breakfast and got ready for church. My sister Rachael came to our house to hang out for the day just in case we needed to make a quick run to the hospital. Our power went out again so we headed off to church with wet hair. The power was out at our church building also and the chapel was full so we sat in the hall. It was a good thing because by this time I had to concentrate on every contraction and they were 7 minutes apart and lasted a minute (which had been the same since I woke up). I am a people watcher and people watching helped me through the contraction and squeezing Michael's hand. It was great having Rachael around, she chased Olivia around.
After church we relaxed at home and the contractions got stronger. I still wasn't sure if I would be having a baby any time soon because this process lasted 2 days with Olivia.
Around 3:30pm my mom arrived at my house from California (just in time!!). She brought her stuff in the house and played with Olivia while I packed my bags and held onto Michael through every contraction which were now 5 minutes apart.
It was now 6:30pm and the pain was intense. Michael had just got off the phone with the hospital who suggested we come in so I didn't loose my window for an epidural. This is when everything began to happen really fast.
We hurried and finished packing the things we would need and Michael gave me a priesthood blessing. I was so nervous and the priesthood blessing really gave me peace that everything would work out. I gave Olivia a lot of hugs and kisses then got into the car. I had a strong contraction just as I got in the car and then another one on the way to the hospital and another just as we pulled into the parking lot. It is only a 6 minute drive to the hospital so now my contractions were coming every 3 minutes.
We hurried in and I had 2 more contractions waking down the hall to labor and delivery. 3 minutes goes by really fast. We got into our room and did the routine pee and change into the gown and started the question. It was around 7:00pm. They checked my cervix and I was expecting them to tell me I was only dilated to a 3 so when they told me I was a 7 I was in complete shock!! I was so nervous I wouldn't be able to get an epidural but they reassured me I still had time.
Jay came in at 7:30 and started giving me my epidural. By this time I was shaking uncontrollably and I couldn't breathe. This made getting the epidural hard. They kept telling me to sit still but I couldn't control my shaking. Jay was a talker and was taking his time. He finally finished and I laid down but the catheter moved and blood started pooling into the IV... We had to start the process all over again... By the time he finally got it right it was 8:30pm. And at 9:00 I was feeling great. They checked me again and I was dilated to a 10! They called my Dr and gave me some time to labor down. At 9:35 my Dr came in and broke my water then told me to start pushing. I pushed through 6 contractions and out popped our little man at 9:52pm!
We were only at the hospital for about 3 hours. I didn't have any time to think about what was really going on. Michael and I were in shock! With Olivia we had been in the hospital for 20 hours before we had her and I pushed for 2 hours. Olivia was 2 days late and Walter was 3 days early. The recovery process has been amazing this time. I was up the next day walking around and playing with Olivia and the only pain I felt was bruising from my IV in my arm and in my back from the epidural. With Olivia I hurt everywhere and couldn't even leave my bed while I was at the hospital. My pregnancies and labor and delivery have been completely different but I loves each of them and wouldn't have changed a thing.
We named our little man Walter Tyler after both of Michael's grandpas. It's a special name and it totally fits him. We will call him Wallie like my grandpa and also Walt. He came into the world weighing 7lbs even and his height was 20in even.
This was my last baby bump picture at 38 1/2 weeks
Olivia didn't want to give up being the baby but little does she know that she will be my baby forever!!!!
This was taken when my contractions were really painful. After every contraction she would come and give me a huge hug and kiss. Seeing and holding her helped me remember how all this pain would be worth it.
Last picture before I became a mother of 2!
He looks just like his big sister and is definitely a Woolley!!
Walter Tyler! He had a hard time keeping his eyes open. He kept blinking really fast.
He loved his bath! He only cried when they put him on my chest for a minute and hadn't cried again... Until he got circumsized and now he cries a lot more.
It was so good to have Olivia stay with me at the hospital all day. That was the first time away from her at night. Good thing I was so distracted. She had to leave me to take a nap and we both cried until Michael had to finally take her from me and walk out of the room.
Olivia loves her little brother. She loves to pet his head and give him kisses. I love my babies!
Olivia is already teaching Walter technology. Such a good big sis!
First family photo! Olivia wouldn't stop watching tv.
We finally got to take our babies home!!!
I loved going home to our own home with my little family!
We are so in love with our Christmas present this year!!!
