This past weekend was my cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and I am so glad I was able to be there.
Patricia and I go way back... all the way back to the day she was born! I am 8 months older than her. Patricia, our cousin Tori, and I were best of friends growing up. We were always dressed up in matching outfits and looking oh so cute! We always looked forward to holidays, summers, or family reunions when we would all be together.
Some funny memories I have of Patty and I:
Every summer Patty and I would get together at each others houses. One summer we swam at her house so much my hair turned green!! We would play dress up and her mom would take pictures of us in cool poses. I wish I had those pictures to put on here. I'm sure you would get a kick out of them!
Growing up we would go to the beach house on Balboa Island every summer. I love that her wedding reception was on a yacht that sailed around Newport Harbor. It brought back all those summer memories. During our stay at Balboa we would sail around the island in my grandpas put-put boat in our matching swimsuits. One summer Tori, Patty, and I were 11,12, and 13 years old and we found a boy down the street who was to die for! We would stay out in the front of the house just to get a glimpse of him. We ended up borrowing his kayak and took it around the island. We were sore the next few days. (I was informed just this weekend that the cute boy is not as cute as we once thought he was... Good thing we all found hot hubbies!)
We also went crab hunting during our summers. We would scooter down the street and watch the big boys catch crabs then we would race back and play on the beach. I have such great memories of those summers.
We also went on plenty of AMAZING cruises growing up. One cruise we went on we were about 8 and we thought we were so old and mature. It was the first time had our own room to share and we were so excited! We had a list of all the numbers of our families rooms and we would prank call them all. We also enjoyed the bucket of ice that awaited us in our room. We were all eating ice when Patty began to choke. She started to run out of the room but only made it to the door when she threw up the ice. I'm sure she loves me for sharing that story with you. As we got older the cruises became more fun! We had more laughs and became more independent.
One last embarrassing cruise story. We were still young enough that our parents stuck us in the babysitting club so they could have fun but we were old enough that we didn't want to be there. We went to the sleepover the club was having and we were acting cool to impress and the cute boys that were being baby sat too. They had us playing a game and Patricia introduced herself as Patty. During the game she kept raising her hand and so the name was created Patty Pits. Our family now calls her PattyPits. (If I left out details or messed up the story please correct me, family.)
One family reunion we went to Aspen Grove in Utah. We spent one day swimming and got completely burnt! I remember laying in our beds that night laughing and crying because we couldn't move.
The summer before I graduated Patty came to visit. We had the best time taking pictures dancing around my room. I introduced her to all my guy friends and after that visit every time I hung out with my guy friends they begged me to have her come back to visit.
One day I was talking to Patricia and she told me she was dating this guy and he reminded her of Michael. She told me he was tall and from Colorado and I hopped she was going to marry him! Last summer after we went to a friends wedding we spent the night at our grandma's house. We stayed up late into the night talking about Ben. She was the happiest I have ever seen her and I knew that this was the guy she was going to marry.
Patty, I am so happy for you. I love seeing you so happy. Your wedding was beautiful. Congratulations! I am excited to see what our future holds and more excited watch our children be best friends like we are. I love you so much!!!! Congratulations on your new future with Ben, he is a very lucky man!

Dancing the night away. After our family would get our Balboa bars during our summer trips to Balboa we would walk along the beach and watch these yachts sail down the harbor. I always thought it would be fun to be on one dancing the night way. So glad I got to fulfill my dreams!
After the reception Patty and Ben got on a gondola and sailed into the night! Happily Ever After!
