Things they don't tell you

They tell you so much about pregnancy and all that happens to your body and all the changes you go through but some times I feel they leave some big stuff out... (I know everyone is different and experiences things differently but really!? Have none of my friends experienced this? Or did it slip their minds?)

One thing all my friends talked about was how you get a head full of thick luscious hair when you are pregnant and some time after giving birth to your sweet bundle of joy your hair falls out. Yes, mine fell out just as Olivia learned how to grab my hair and take chunks out. After a few months of shedding like a dog I thought it was all over. I was wrong... I started growing all that hair back! And it looked so silly! 

At first it looked like I took a step back or 20 steps back into kindergarten, into the phase of cutting your own hair. I'm pretty sure I looked like my sister Rachael did after she cut her own bangs about an inch short in kindergarten. (I remember my mom crying for hours when I got home from school that day. Kinda how I felt about my new situation.)

Now that Olivia is 15 months old people keep asking if I have cut my hair. At first I thought it was a funny question because my hair is longer than it has been in 5 years. But after being asked the same question a few times I realized they were referring to my awful post baby hair growth! I look as if I have extensions. I always look like a frizzy mess when my hair is pulled up... Like today when I had every intension of showering but things kept getting in the way. I am soooo tempted to cut my hair to one very short length and start all over since this will most likely happen again after December, but I have worked so hard to go grow my hair back out. I have resisted so many temptations to cut it all off! I love pulling it up and out of my face. Most of all I don't want to go through that awkward phase of growing my hair out past my shoulders... It's a big dilemma that I dream about every night. Oh, and all that new hair I have grown since I had Olivia is now curly again... So I have curly then straight hair! Ha! My hair is one big joke that keeps me giggling every day!

So, I guess this is my heads up to any friend that has a baby who may go through this situation. Good luck! I laugh at myself every day when I do something to my hair!

These two melt my heat! I can't get enough of them! Olivia LOVES her daddy!! I love these two!

Michael's family came for a visit!

We have been planning this week for a long time and have been really excited to spend time with Michael's family.

I told Olivia that Auntie Leah was coming to visit and she got excited! A little background on Leah, she is the nanny for President Clark's (the President of BYU-Idaho) daughter, Erin. Erin and her family spend the month of July in Utah and for this short weekend they came up to Idaho to visit her parents and brought Leah up with them.

On Thursday the plan was for Olivia and me to pick Leah up in Rexburg then take a quick tour around the school and town then get some dinner. We went to pick Leah up some plans had changed. We arrived at President Clark's house to get Leah and President Clark answered the door and invited us in. We asked for Leah then he told us they were eating dinner and invited us to join them. I didn't want to impose so I said we would be ok. He then asked if I had eaten dinner and when I said no he asked what we wanted on our plates. After dinner President Clark, his darling wife and family took Leah and Olivia and I on a tour around campus. After our tour we all went out for some ice cream and President Clark paid. It was such a fun evening! I will never forget how special it was. President Clark is like a BYU-Idaho/LDS celebrity! 

Friday morning Leah, Olivia, and I went to breakfast then drove around the Idaho Falls Temple. It was a beautiful day!

That night we went to our first Chuckars game this season. These two are so cute!

We loved spending time with Leah! We only get to see her once a year or every other Christmas.

Olivia had a blast playing with Leah and always wanted her to hold her.

I was surprised that Olivia really wanted to watch the game. It was fun explaining what was going on to her.

Saturday morning we played with Auntie Leah and Daddy all morning. 

We celebrated Pioneer Day early with a pancake breakfast and after we went to the Melaleuca Picnic. 

We ate tons of cotton candy, Popsicles, and BBQ.

Olivia got to ride a horse for the first time and go on a blow up slide.

I don't think she realized we were on a horse but she thought it was cool the people in front of us were on a horse.

Right when we got home from the picnic Michael's mom and sister Rachel arrived at our house. We went to Big Jud's for dinner to help Leah remember her time spent in Rexburg when she attended BYU-I.

Olivia enjoyed Auntie Leah's ice cream.

We enjoyed a yummy snow shack on our girls night out!

After church on Sunday we drove up to Rexburg to celebrate President Clark's granddaughters birthday. We had a yummy dinner and great conversation! 

We said bye to Leah then headed home.

On Monday morning we painted Olivia's room! We has her busy for a minute watching Princess and the Frog.

Marcia was so helpful and the color turned our great!

On Tuesday we went to bear world. We love bear world and always have fun when we go.

Olivia crashed on the way home

Wednesday, we went to IJump and jumped jumped jumped!

Again, Olivia crashed on the way home!

Rachel and Marcia left this morning to head to Utah for the 1Direction concert!! We miss them and had so much fun with them! Hopefully we will see them soon!

Cooking in the kitchen with Olivia

I can not get enough of Olivia. After we put her down for the night I look at all my pictures of her. She is hilarious! I wish all my family could come for a week or so to experience our daily life. Since we live in Idaho we don't get as many visitors as I would like so blogging will have to do, but it doesn't do it justice.

Tonight Olivia and I wanted to bake something. We decided cake sounded great so we got everything set up for our controlled baking lesson.

Olivia was a good sport since I had a tight grip on everything we did. 

She finally got so frustrated with me helping her I gave her an empty bowl and an old whisk to play with. She didn't think  it was fun to play pretend so she went to the pantry and cried until we gave her a cracker. Then the real fun started

Her tiny fingers began to crumble the cracker into her bowl.

She mixed and mixed and mixed

She did a few taste tests to make sure everything was tasting the way she wanted

Then we gave her some cheese and she had more fun with the spoon

She thought it was time to move out of our over crowded kitchen and into her own place

It's busy work running your own kitchen!

Isn't she so funny! I love this little girl with all my heart! We have a blast together! I'm so blessed to be her mommy!
