I didn't blogged about my senior capstone concert and it has been over a month since the concert.
After months of staying up late stressing about all the choreography I needed to perfect, everything came together so nicely! It was a beautiful journey discovering myself the last four years in college. Cheese, I know, but it is true.
During my process of choreographing my Senior Capstone project I kept referring back to old choreography I did in my introductory choreography classes. It was interesting to see my growth as a choreographer. My first piece was a good idea that I would like to try again but the choreography was missing a lot. The piece was about friendship and how you need friends to get through events in life which was perfect for the time I was at in my life. I chose 3 dancers to be in my piece that represented my two best friends and me and the trials we go through.

The second choreography piece was created a year later about the pace of life. There were two dancers in the piece, one represented patience and the other represented a rushed life. At the end of the dance they switched roles. Again, I would like to redo this piece. I like the idea of the piece but the choreography was missing a lot more than the first piece.

The third piece, my senior capstone was a huge change. After spending a year figuring out why I was at BYU-Idaho, why I was a dance major, why I love dancing, and who I really was it started to come together. I realized that I had so many fears in my life that had been holding me back. I decided I wanted to create a piece about the fears that had been preventing me from progressing as a dancer, choreographer, and as a person. I chose 5 dancers to be in my piece. All of these ladies are strong dancers and good friends of mine. I had them choose a fear in their life that was holding them back and I created the dance around them. I also chose a fear that I had which was the fear of choreographing and throughout the process of creating this dance I pushed though my fear and explored movement that I would usually be to afraid to do. It was so rewarding to see my piece come together into something that I felt was interesting to see.
